HUDCO was assigned the prestigious project of designing the staff rental housing for HAL, Bengaluru. The project is spread over three different plots. The highlights of the housing project is its green features focusing on appropriate building orientation and site sustainability. The project showcases suitability and applicability of high rise medium density and low rise low density depending on the varied needs of the end users. The project is registered with GRIHA/IGBC and designed with host of green sustainable practices to reduce environmental impact.

Designs for Shelter for Urban Homeless- (National Urban Livelihoods Mission)

The design of model day and night ‘Shelters for Urban Homeless’ (SUH) under National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) has been prepared as five prototype design for the four climatic zones of India- Hot and Dry, Composite, Warm and Humid, and Cold Climate. The prototype design provide for 50 beds and have accomodation for Males, Females, Family and Disabled. The design adopts Solar Passive strategies to maximise comfort conditions for inmates and incorporates use of eco-friendly and low embodied energy materials.

Housing for Bhopal Gas Victims

Award Winning Housing Projects

In designing the housing for rehabilitation of Bhopal gas victims, the approach adopted was low rise high density cluster planning in marked contrast to the multi-storeyed housing solution proposed by the state Govt. The high rise was considered highly unsuitable for victims given their physical conditions and reduced mobility. The proposed design included a G+1 development with incremental concept. A future room facility was kept for each unit at the same level. The houses were organized in a cluster condominium development. A cluster of 20 units was formed by combining four basic modules of five units in such a way that the central open area can be utilized by all beneficiaries for outdoor activities.

Low Income Housing Project at Pimri Chinchwad, Pune

The project was a landmark for low income housing projects due to its incremental low rise high density development approach. The buildings designed were ground and one storeyed structures with 16 houses clustered at two levels around an open space. The layout also provided for shopping corners at crossroads – linking facilities, pedestrian movement and open spaces. This project was specially noted for using pre fab system without compromising the aesthetics. The Project won the JIIA award in 1992.
