HUDCO has emerged as a major player in housing sector during the last five decades of operation. HUDCO through its project financing window has so far extended financial assistance for the construction of 8.36 million residential units (as on 31.12.2025) in the country under urban housing and laid special emphasis to housing for under privileged and poor in urban area, HUDCO offers softer financial terms to Economically Weaker Section and Low Income Group housing which includes lesser interest rates, larger extent of loan and longer repayment period when compared with financial assistance to other income group categories.

The proposal funded by Housing and Urban Development Corporation with a total loan assistance of ₹4,451.35 crore delivers a major boost to India’s urban housing and infrastructure ecosystem under the AHP vertical of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 1.0. The project envisages construction of 41,502 dwelling units supported by a housing loan of ₹2,741.27 crore, along with comprehensive infrastructure development financed by ₹1,710.08 crore. At a national level, the project strengthens the “Housing for All” mission by reducing urban housing shortages, improving quality of life for EWS and LIG beneficiaries, generating employment through large-scale construction activity, and promoting sustainable, inclusive urban development across India. - Construction of EWS Rural Houses under LIFE Mission in the State of Kerala.
The project funded by Housing and Urban Development Corporation with a loan assistance of ₹1,500 crore has a significant socio-economic impact for India, particularly in advancing inclusive growth and social equity. By supporting the construction of 31,679 new houses and the completion of 43,321 in-progress houses totalling 75,000 dwelling units, the project strengthens the Housing for All vision under the LIFE Mission of the Government of Kerala. Targeting Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) beneficiaries from SC, ST, and General categories across various Grama Panchayats, the beneficiary-led construction model promotes community participation, local employment generation, and decentralized development. - Implementation of EWS Affordable Housing Scheme (INDIRAMMA INDLU) for construction of 95,235 DUs in the State of Telangana by Telangana Housing Board (THB)
The Government of Telangana, with funding support of ₹3,000 crore from Housing and Urban Development Corporation, is contemplating the construction of 95,235 Indiramma Houses for BPL and EWS families by dovetailing central assistance under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin). The scheme proposes 57,141 dwelling units in rural areas and 38,094 units in urban areas, each with a plinth area of 390 sq. ft. and essential living spaces including a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and toilet. This large-scale housing initiative will have a transformative impact on India’s future by significantly reducing the housing deficit among the poorest sections, strengthening rural–urban housing balance, improving health and sanitation outcomes, and fostering social stability.
